Leanna's Winding Path

Hi friends. Thanks for checking in on me. I thought this would be a good place to share with you the details about my journey in this life. I hope to keep it simple and honest.

I love you.

27 February 2011 – There is plenty of good stuff going on too!

Hey friends.  I really want to keep sharing with you.  But I want to share more about life and less about medical treatment details.  In fact, I think that truly living life is probably the best treatment that we could all give ourselves for pretty much any situation, so that’s what I intend to write about – at least for the time being.

I’ll still share some medical stuff, but just in less detail.  Like, I’m still having a hard time sleeping through the night and my balance is way, way off.  I actually fell out of a chair on Friday.  How does someone fall out of a chair?!  I can’t tell you how, but I can tell you I did.  You really just have to laugh at that, don’t you?  Please laugh – or at least smile – and don’t feel sorry for me.  Gentle acceptance and not freaking out is really the best medicine for bad balance.  That and maybe a good yoga or pilates routine.

So it occurs to me that I have not told you enough about the importance that Reiki is playing in my life.  Reiki is this subtle, but profound, healing modality.  I started receiving Reiki treatments in December 2009 through the graciousness of a wonderful woman who has become a dear companion.  It offered immediate relief and a lovely way to find mental and emotional balance.  As a Reiki Master, she initiated me into the tradition of 1st degree Reiki (for self practice or practicing on friends) in March 2010.

While it is such a wonderful experience to receive a Reiki treatment from someone else, one of the most important components of really making Reiki work for you is daily self-practice.  Practicing Reiki is not challenging; it is actually quite readily available, with no special equipment needed except for your hands.  Almost like meditation, you just have to make the time for it.

Well, best of intentions aside, my self-practice was on again off again for quite a while.  Well, now, I’m very happy to report that I’ve had a regular daily self-practice since we moved into our house in Frederick.  I’m so happy that I’ve been able to make it a part of life.  And now, with a regular Reiki self-practice in my life, I feel I can reach out to others who are interested in experiencing this gentle healing approach.

And I love to share Reiki with others too.  One of my favorite things is to offer Reiki treatments to friends.  It’s something I feel very confident about, and I feel like the experience is just as beneficial for me as it is for the person I’m offering a treatment to.

Earlier in February, my Reiki master arranged a Reiki clinic in DC.  There were 9 of us practitioners and we treated for 2 sessions, a full house each session, over 16 people on a donation basis (donations were given to the facility that hosted the event).  It was such an incredible experience.  I can’t wait to do something like that again.

What exactly is Reiki?  It’s not easy to explain.  It is much easier to just feel.  I’ll try to explain it though in some future post.

Lots of love,

Leanna.
